Final Animation

Click on the link below to view my final animation

'Monday Night Movies'

Soundtrack

Soundtrack made using ABCexplorer. Here i was trying to create an atmospheric piece of music like the music heard at the beginning of the animation 'Curiosity' referenced earlier. I wanted the music to be quite fast to coincide with the speed of my final animation.

Different Variations Of The Character

Here are all the different variations of the character that were needed in order to create the animation.

Props

Here are the different props made using Illustrator. The props are coloured so that the white character will stand out and just to add a bit of colour in general to the animation.

House

Sofa

TV (front + back)

Car (front + side)

Cinema

Cinema Seats

Supporting Character

The supporting character has the same look as the main character but with a rounded nose as opposed to the main characters sharp nose.

Character Blinking

Here i have used the various eyes created in Illustrator to make it appear as if the character is blinking.

Character Talking

Here i have used the mouths created in Illustrator to make it appear as if the character is talking.

Character Sitting

Here i have used 2 different versions of the character to make it appear as if he is sitting down.

Character Walking

Character walking made in Flash using the body parts previously mentioned.

Walking From The Side

Here i have made 3 different torsos with variously positioned arms to simulate arm movement while walking.

Here i have made 4 different sets of legs to show the different stages of walking. These will join to the torsos above to simulate a walking character.

Character Features

Here i have made the characters features in illustrator.

Eyebrows

Final Character

Updated character design with new hands and slightly smaller head.

Chosen Character + Colourways.

Here i have drawn my chosen character in Illustrator using my rough sketch as a guide. I feel the black and white colourway works best as the look is simple and effective like the animations from the 1950's.

Original Character Sketches

Here i have drawn different character designs in a 1950's style.

'Cartoon Modern' Drawings

Here i have drawn characters from the book 'Cartoon Modern' to get a feel for the 1950's drawing style. I really like this style and plan to draw my final character in this style.

Storyboard Draft #3

Final storyboard in which the character discovers that there is nothing on TV at that particular time and so decides to go to the cinema to watch a film only to end up back at home watching 'Monday Night Movies' on his TV. The idea is that the character does not need to go to the cinema to see a good film, he can watch one at home.

Storyboard Draft #2

A more detailed storyboard of how the animation will appear and the actions of the character.
